WIP Renewable Energies (Munich, Germany) has been active in the clean energy and environmental sectors for over three decades, working with both industrial and public sector clients at the international level. The company’s mission is to bridge the gap between research and implementation of sustainable energy systems. WIP’s interdisciplinary team of professionals provides expertise and consultancy services to improve the performance of sustainable energy systems and to promote renewable energies and energy efficiency.

Comillas Pontifical University (Madrid, Spain) is represented in this project by IIT (Institute for Research in Technology). IIT is a university institute devoted to research and training of researchers in technological, economic and regulation fields related to the energy sector, with a focus on the Electric Systems. IIT is Spain’s leading institution working on the development of integrated models for the operation and planning of electricity systems under deregulation, and has provided extensive international consultancy on electricity markets design and network regulation.

VITO, the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (Mol, Belgium), is an independent and client-oriented research organization that provides innovative technological solutions and scientific advice and support. Within VITO the business unit Energy Technology focuses its activities on ‘smart systems for smart cities’ and has built up a lot of expertise on demand side flexibility, energy market modelling and business models for demand response. Since 2012 Energy Technology is part of EnergyVille, a cooperation initiative with the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven) and R&D centre Imec.

Imperial College London (London, UK) is consistently rated amongst the world's best universities and is a science-based institution with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The Control and Power (CAP) research group at Imperial has a long track and outstanding record of research and innovation in the field of Energy Systems which include investigation of innovative concepts, technologies, software and hardware applications to achieve cost effective integration of distributed energy resources into future electricity systems. The group has also provided leadership in the area of market, economics and regulatory aspects of future energy systems.

Becker Büttner Held (Munich, Germany) is one of the most prominent law firms specialising in energy law in Germany, with more than 150 lawyers. The firm’s clients include companies which are involved in all areas of the energy industry both internationally and in Germany. Since the 1990s, BBH has made significant contributions to the liberalization of the German and European energy markets, from the co-shaping of European directives and national laws to the contribution to fundamental decisions, for example, on grid access, as well as conceptual work like the development of power exchanges and innovative municipal co-operations.

The European Copper Institute (ECI) (Brussels, Belgium) is a joint venture between the European copper industry and the International Copper Association, headquartered in New York, representing the majority of the world’s leading mining companies, custom smelters and semi-fabricators. ECI has 28 direct industry members, including the top 6 producers of copper in the EU. ECI is also part of the Copper Alliance, an international network of industry associations whose mission is to defend and grow markets for copper based on its superior technical performance and contributions to a higher quality of life.

The SCM Group (Rimini, Italy) is an industrial group which is leader in the creation, production and distribution of technologically advanced solutions to process a vast range of materials (wood, glass, stone, plastic, metals and composite materials). The SCM group includes specialist brands for specific technologies and centres of excellence in industrial components, present on all 5 continents for 60 years. The SCM Group designs systems integrating different technologies and advanced production plants, both for the woodworking sector and for complementary sectors.

Società Energie Rinnovabili (SER) (Rome, Italy) is a renewable energy company joint-venture between Iberdrola (World leader in wind power) and Api (one of most important Italian oil groups). SER has developed and constructed 11 wind farms in Italy since 2007, and is presently operating 244 MW of wind power installed in south Italy. SER is an active member of the standards and market working groups of the Italian Wind Energy Association (ANEV) and is actively engaged with the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA).
